Author, Jim Yates new satirical historical novel about Oscar Wilde and
George Sand Oh! Pére Lachaise Oscar’s Wilde Purgatory is
now available for purchase online.
“Imagine if you will, a pink tinted French division of Purgatory where
all of the souls who have fallen short of Paradise and escaped the torment
of Hell are doomed to the Parisian Purgatory Reservation of Père Lachaise,
where they can forever contemplate the errors of their earthly ways.”
I am honored and flattered to have been invited being given an opportunity
to take part in Jim's commission search for 10 drawings or paintings to
be included in Oh! Pére Lachaise. I very much enjoyed reading an excerpt
from Jim's novel for my inspiration in creating "George," "Morgan's Chair,"
and "Vagabond." And now I look forward to reading Oh! Pére Lachaise in
its entirety! Jim has an autographed copy on its way to me.....
Jim's novel was launched at the Oscar Wilde House in Dublin
on the 11 September 2007. This is the best possible venue Jim could have
been given. His beautiful new book became available on line at midnight
of 11 September and may be purchased either through Amazon or Edition
d'Amelie websites."
I felt such excitement for Jim and his lovely family and with 11 September
2007 being the new moon he must of felt my energy all the way in Dublin!
I can only imagine the anticipation and emotions and excitement he must
be feeling right about now as I look forward to all the wonderful success
unfolding for Jim and his beautiful novel Oh! Pere Lachaise!
Jim emailed me 18 September 2007 to share, “Oh! Pere Lachaise had a successful
launch at the Oscar Wilde House at the American College Dublin on Tuesday
11 September! It was a great evening. The US ambasstor sent an attaché
and the Swedish Ambasstor and his wife were there as well as representives
of the German Embassy. Irish politician Mary O'Rouke did the honours and
delivered a very good speech. Other guest included Angela Schofield the
artist who was given the commission along with her friends from Yorkshire.
There was also a good mix of the literary and artistic fraternity of Dublin.
At present it's only available on the Edition d'Amelie publishing site.
It's up on Amazon but that won’t be activated until the book is in the
shops which should be from the beginning of November. Oh! Pere Lachaise
will be launched 2008 in the UK next May and the US later in the year
and it is to be translated into French."
A big heartfelt (((((Congratulations))))) goes to Yorkshire
artist, Angela Schofield on receiving this commission. Angie now has
a couple of photos from the event up on her website and please do scroll
down the page to experience Angela's Oh! Pere Lachaise illustrations for
Jim Yates' book. Angela does amazing work!

Soul Moments 2005 ~ 2006...
A string of delightfully, positive "Soul Moments" unfolded synchronistically for me in 2005 ~ 2006... and the following postings are glimpses and highlights:
This beautifully, brilliant stained glass is located in the 13th century Gothic Cathedral in Leon, Spain. Its colors are magnificent!
January 2005: Tess Clark contacted me with questions on the Camino and sharing her itinerary to start at traditional ST-Jean-de-Port with intention to arrive in Santiago by her April 6th birthday. It was magical to experience the Camino de Santiago with Tess to honor and observe her 40th. She introduced me to the 'Blog' through my posting Tess' updates in sharing "tales from the trails..." hence SAG’s 'Being… Blog.'
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Dyana Sangraal created this collage to commemorate my (LBL) and (PL) work and she titled it "Between the Worlds." A print is placed on my alter.
March 28, 2005: My life between life and past life regression sessions with Dr. Linda Backman took place. This experience brought clarity and peace around my (LBL) memory. Afterwards, there was a great deal to process; to weed through and to let go of creatively and personally. It is a very humbling experience to realize, "I am not broken!" To accept that "It’s not about me!" And that I am, (we all are) "To be and let be… To be there and hold the energy."
This entire process has been an inspiration for me to paint again. I am in the process of painting a series to include my (LBL) memory and the (LBL) and (PL) images that I experienced.
During 2005 Dyana and her furry companion Kali have been delightful comrades to Big W, Rosie and Me. Dyana was my teacher in Tai Chi Chih, Feng Shui and she introduced me to Twilight Summer, my true colors. Dyana and Kali have recently relocated to North Carolina ...via Georgia …via Arizona ...via Montana. When Dyana phoned us on Christmas to touch base, catch up and give us her up-to-date contact information I teased, "The Eagle has landed!"

May 2005: I felt humble and very much honored when invited to join in a sweat lodge ceremony based on the Blackfoot tradition. I accepted with childlike wonder and great anticipation in being able to experience my very first sweat lodge. What time will the sweat begin? "Indian time, right time, intuitive time, nature's time when the fire burns down."
In the center of the circle is a well-used fire pit where the ancient spiritual songs are remembered and the purification rituals relived. The leader asks if anyone is here for the first time. He says the medicine circle has no beginning, no end; he speaks of unity and the importance of the Four Directions; of Grandfather, creator God and the earth, our Grandmother. He continues speaking quietly about the lodge as a womb: the darkness, the heat; a ritual of purification going back to connect us with Grandfather and Grandmother. He tells of the stones that will be brought in; the stone people our ancestors.
The ceremonial pipe is lit and passed; the stone tender brings hot stones to place in the pit, the leader scatters Sweet grass on the stones and the scent and wisps of smoke fill the lodge. The door of the lodge is closed now, the blankets pulled down over the entrance. Darkness surrounds us; care is taken that no light is visible during the ceremony. Whether eyes are open or closed will not matter. In the darkness there are sounds of the ladle being dipped into the pail, then water being poured upon the rocks. The heat intense, increasing envelops the body in waves. The hiss of steam fills the senses. There is nowhere to stand up, no place to move. The singing of a spirit song; the steam and heat penetrate the darkness. I hear gasps for breath. Inside, deep within me, I feel the grip of fear with a sudden, desperate urge to escape. I steady myself. More steam. Familiar habits, techniques for dealing with fear of being trapped, don't work now. The senses are bombarded with intensity. My nostrils and eyes, my mouth and ears, are filled with steam and heat. I feel the moisture dripping from my body as the lodge fills with the rhythm of the chant. I hear others around me join in an easy, high-pitched wailing song.
The makeshift door of blankets is thrown open. Cool air and light surround us. No sense of hurry or time here; five minutes pass, ten. More stones are brought in. The fire tender closes the door. Once again, we are surrounded by darkness. The second round begins. "Grandfather, have pity on us top-legged creatures." There is more steam and heat; the boundaries of time and space begin to collapse. I hear petitions of thanksgiving, prayers for family, for the fish of the rivers. The heat becomes more intense. I give up control; I let the chanting of the ancient songs carry what is left of my consciousness.
The third and fourth rounds follow, intermingled with resting times of light, cool air and water. The scent of sweet grass burns, permeating our circle. Somewhere in those moments, I open my eyes to the darkness, and carried by the dull rhythm of the ceremonial chant, sweat soaking my body, heat singeing-my nostrils, I wait for a vision from the other side of the vail. I catch then a glimpse of an Indian brave on horseback in stillness amongst the Aspens waiting for a vision. His face is mine. The vision is a real one for me, foretelling of pride and despair, to be broken only in experience of forgiveness and rebirth. The heat increases now, the chanting becoming stronger. Steam and heat fill my mouth and eyes. In the darkness, there are prayers now for gratitude, healing, the earth, and peace... "Have pity on us, Grandfather." Then the door flap is flung wide open.
Walking back to my car I reflected on the sweat-lodge's role in the Native American spiritual tradition; a unique blend of cleansing, a guided encounter with the deeper levels of "Self" and Spirit. Once home again I wanted to collage a visual of my sweat lodge experience. Both "The Road Less Traveled" and "The Light Undressing" came together intuitively. And yes, I definitely intend to paint the Indian brave on horseback amongst the Aspens waiting for a vision.
Of New England in June I remember...
Pink roses cascading the old gray wall As streams of shimmering sunlight Dance among the silver birches And meadows of white daises Wave in the gentle breeze.
From the stone-fenced rolling pasture To the twilight night in the deep wood Where fireflies with fairy lanterns Shine their silver light
Among this primrose scented starry night In stillness I listen to the crickets serenade All the while embracing the soul of June.

My furry, little friend, Wild Rose is taking time to smell the roses :)) No thorns just lots of kisses!
June 2005: Beautiful Colorado… My mom, Anna DePalma hasn’t traveled west for a visit since 9-11 and she communicated wanting to see our property.
Wayne's and my daughter, Heather and her boyfriend, Alan Jackson (AJ) wanted to visit grandma so they volunteered to help Big W set the pump. Believe me when I say, that he was more than trilled to have their help and strength!
"Everything in the universe has rhythm. Everything dances."~ Maya Angelou
In this field there is joy, camaraderie and unity that will be available to participants for creating and sharing from the heart… with freedom to be who you are. Together we make the difference!
AJ gives a thumb up sign! Wahoo, the pump works it’s celebration time! We all the preliminary steps completed; road, septic, well, electrical, pump and blue print. The next steps are costly and require a set time frame such as; building permit, footings, foundation and building.
It is with love and gratitude that I express, I am honored to help with the care taking of our beautiful piece of Mother Earth. It began with my vision dream, it is 'My place of Emerson' and it was with friend, Mark Geisler’s insight and guidance that our Colorado property was realized. Our pristine seven acres are located at the base of the Wet Mountains east of the Sangre de Christo mountain range; with meadows of wildflowers, Aspen trees, Ponderosa pines, rock cropping and cactus in bloom for summer solstice bordering 640 protected acres. A breath of fresh air!
we intend to build our home, a labyrinth, a meditation chapel, an organic garden…it is our intention to create a gathering place of harmony to serve our greater good, helping Mother Earth to heal, creating a place of wellness that we may be, create, live work and play in peace.
"Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there."—Rumi
Please visit my online shop "Soul Art Gifts" of Love & Gratitude~ It is my intention to apply any income I receive from purchases toward creating a gathering place of harmony & peace on my Colorado property. I invite you to visit, explore, enjoy and support our vision. http://www.cafepress.com/emsoulartgifts
July 2005: Patty Meyer taught me how to make Lavender Wands. I attached one to the visor of my car... it provides me a beautiful reminder of summer with the scent of lavender every time I give it a wee little squeeze. Patty and Helmut created the Redsun Labyrinth located in a large field near the Bitterroot Mountains just outside Victor, Montana. www.redsunlabyrinth.com
This labyrinth pattern with its flower petal center emanates female and male energy balance. I feel very connected to its energy and drawn to create "Wild Rose Labyrinth" with this pattern on our Colorado property. The original 800 year-old pattern for this eleven circuit labyrinth is in Chartres Cathedral in France. I love that there is no right or wrong way to walk a labyrinth; one simply does what feels natural knowing its path is a metaphor for life with its intention being to help on this spiritual journey.
"Remember, every creative genius in history was a person pursuing the activity that they loved the most. Composers like Mozart and Beethoven, artists like Rembrandt and Monet, scientists like Einstein and Galileo are all icons of dedicated creativity. They were all totally absorbed in work that they loved.
Let service to others through work that you love become your greatest inspiration, and let it produce your greatest accomplishments in Life." –Owen Waters
August 2005: Janelle Dauenhauer is sheer delight to create and work with. I appreciate her kind words and thoughtfulness in sharing her Affirmative collage experience. During collage Janelle mentioned one of her passions happens to be photography. I thought, hum it’s about time I post some current photos of Maria in her true colors on SAG's pages. We scheduled November, 12 to play, have fun and explore on this brisk, windy autumn day.
Our photo shoot experience was so much fun; we laughed and shivered posing between the challenging whirls of golden leaves, flurries of snow with the occasional sunlight peeking through just long enough to tease its warm embrace. It was a day of delightful Soul Moments!
"Maria taught me how to make an affirmation collage in preparation for teaching a class at the scrapbook store I work at. With Maria's guidance I began selecting items from the store that caught my eye or just felt right. As I put my collage on paper I felt a sense of excitement and creativity! Each area of the collage flowed into the next until I had completed this puzzle of my life. How rewarding! Each day I look at my collage for guidance, encouragement and goal setting. My collage keeps me on track, keeps me centered, keeps me focused. As a fitness professional, I look forward to sharing this with my clients as they set their goals for fitness, and most importantly, for life! Thank you Maria for entering my life, sharing similar energies, and teaching me the importance of collage!" -Janelle Dauenhauer, Montana
September 2005: The following poem "Woodland Voice" came to me on the drive to and from Gold Creek for my gig at Camp Mak-A-Dream.
"Woodland Voice."
Within my being resides a deep love for wild, free things, Of the life and beauty of the dark wood It was you, which instilled in me worldly goods Alone gift not the happiness which sings.
To your woodland voice, the river and mountains Rejoice on this gleaming day of muted haze With dappled sun a patterned maze unfolds
As black-eyed Susan's glow and fade Now hold enchantment in their thrall Tall, lodge pole pine trees stretch their limbs They sigh; content to offer shelter to the birds.
Eveline Maria Smith September 9, 2005
"Never close your ears to those to whom you've opened your heart. Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. The reward of a thing well done is to have done it." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Now the Overland Stage ride through scenic Montana in route to the old mining ghost town of Pioneer is also located in Gold Creek near the camp entrance. My mother, Anna loves Westerns so for mom's visit Big W booked this wild ride and fun adventure. It was a hoot!
When Autumn ...tiptoed in today A hundred golden leaves rained down Content to hear My spirit's healing song.
I walked in silent reverence... Through the rustle of aspen leaves As woodland's voice echoes humble with accord Red dragonflies dart by humming, "Summer is done."

October 15 – 24, 2005: Wayne and I experienced a soggy east coast. When in Massachusetts visiting family Big W and I took credit for stopping the rain and bringing the sunshine! Day 1 we headed to Boston and visited the penguins at the aquarium… a definite must after seeing "The March of the Penguins." Day 2 it was a beautiful autumn day and we headed to the apple orchards to indulge in some hot cider, apple dumplings and locate the perfect pumpkin… Oh, we picked apples too. It was fun and it felt good to gather together as a family. The two weeks prior of steady rain did quite a number on the roads. Day 3 we headed for Connecticut after breakfast and visiting a ranch in a beautiful secluded setting that provided a loving home for some gorgeous wild horses from the west… Montana.
I grew up in Southbury and my mom moved back there in 2003 after her husband, Al passed away. Prior to this visit when I would travel back east for a visit I always made a point to drive through the area… amazed at the difference from the quaint small New England town that I experienced when first arriving there from Germany 45 years ago. This visit was unique in that it presented me with a feeling of nostalgia, a memory of being younger… returning to something I had lived before.
November 2005: Big W, Rosie and I celebrated Thanksgiving in gratitude and love with our daughter,Heidi's family. There was about two inches of snow and slush on 4 th of July pass when we headed over on Wednesday the 24 th. Heidi prepared a wonderful holiday dinner! Early evening Heidi, Caitlyn and Chuck joined us back at the hotel for a soak and swim in the "Hot Tub!"
December 2005: This Christmas photo from Caitlyn is adorable; oh my goodness it's really been 2.5 years ago that my granddaughter was born. It was the moment when I held her in my arms and she smiled as she grasped my finger with her tiny little hand that I made the conscious choice to be responsible in being and doing all that I personally can to help heal the environment and to be an advocate for world peace. The first step in bringing peace into the world is to become conscious of the peace that already exists within you.
It doesn’t require a degree in science to see what is transpiring in our environments at the individual, community and global levels. It’s time to wakeup! Our world is at a major crossroads. And the time is at hand for "ALL" to come together in unity acting and working responsibly. Please I ask… no I plead, realize "NOW" that without good, balanced habitat; clean water, fresh air, wild lands and secure wildlife there will be no life for this or future generations. I have always been one to view my glass as being half full and aware how I act today does affect how I am tomorrow. "IT ALL" matters!
I believe individually and collectively we create and make a positive difference every moment of our lives by affirming positive. By being centered in gratitude and in love we can create a life and world of lasting compassion and peace.
February 2006: My experience and participation in Dr. Masaru Emoto’s 3rd Hado Instructor School that was held at the Hawaii Naniloa Resort in Hilo, Hawaii February 13 –18, 2006 was "Good Hado..." awesome vibrations in love, gratitude and peace! Hado (pronounced Hadou to rhyme with shadow) literally means "wave" and "move." It is the intrinsic vibrational pattern at the atomic level in all matter and is the smallest unit of energy. Its basis is the energy of human consciousness. www.hadousa.comwww.hado.net
"Hado creates words. Words are the vibration of nature. Therefore beautiful words create beautiful nature. Ugly words create ugly nature. This is the root of the universe." ~Masaru Emoto
Robert Berman HA'a attended the 3rd Hado Instructor School with me in magical Hawaii. I am deeply moved by "The foundation of good HADO" its message resonates with my being.
The foundation of good HADO By Robert Berman HA’a
As it was done before many times, and as it is before us once again today. The breath that breathed upon the image that we now see in front of us was done in memory of the old ones.
Built before us in honor and in recognition of our elders in order to hold the energy of the Great Spirit here amongst our people of this land.
Every movement that we place upon the work that we have in front of us is like the very breath that we breathe. In and out, in and out, each and every single breath giving us the precious gift of life.
If we breathe hard and are not conscious of our breath, we then make our bodies and the things around us sick. If we work for nothing more then a simple way to find a means to an end, we will miss the blessing in-between. And if we miss the blessing in-between, we can say that we have already died. For our memory will be lost from our once known image that our very precious inner soul seeks to find and hold.
If we labor with the work that is before us in our hearts in prayer, and in holding every breath in our knowingness that it is a gift from the creator, we then place this energy and this intention into that in which we do. If we hope to restore and uphold this energy, we must place the same energy into the work that we do.
If prayers and blessings were the original foundation in how it was built, then prayers and blessings are how it must be maintained in order to restore it and to hold its energy for the people of our land.
Here before us lays not a construction job that simply needs to be over with. Instead, a powerful blessing that is waiting for each of us to participate in. Here today the Great Spirit asks for our hearts to return to the place where we remember that each and every breath is a blessing.
We must ask ourselves these questions, is the labor that I am asked to do for or against my will? Is it for or against the will of our Creator? Are the thoughts and the words that we speak and how we share with each other for us or against the ways of the Great Spirit? Is my will and the will of the Great Spirit as One?
If we honor and respect that which we do, then honor and respect becomes the foundation before us, a foundation that goes way beyond that of the flesh. If we restore this very precious and very sacred work with this gratitude in our hearts, all who come before it will also receive the blessing from the love that we bring forth to it.

May each of us spread good Hado upon the Earth. Thank you Dr. Emoto Many Blessings to all! Robert Berman HA'aThis is an excerpt from "Sacred Water" By Robert Berman HA'a
Robert’s water photography, music and writing are healing and speak to one’s soul. I remember the first time I experienced seeing HA’a photograph and thinking, such beautiful work! I’ll have to ask HA’a what techniques he uses to achieve such an affect. Imagine my amazement in discovering it is a photograph and not a painting.www.rememberthewater.com
